Redefine your work with AI.

Generative AI is not just a tool.
It is a partner in innovation.

The pace of technological change is reshaping every discipline. Tools like ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and AI-driven design platforms didn’t exist a few years ago — yet they’re already redefining the nature of work.

For students
Preparing them as the “Engineers of 2030,” ready to co-design with AI responsibly.
For faculty
Scaling teaching, research, and mentorship while embedding AI in daily practice.
For staff
Reducing repetitive tasks to create capacity for higher-value, people-centered work. Develop new skills that align with future roles.

Ready to get started with generative AI?

One of the best ways to get started with adopting AI into your workflow is to learn to use an ASU-developed option called Create AI Chat.

It is the perfect tool to use to experiment with prompt engineering and to quickly create a few small wins to build consistency.

Augmented not artificial.

AI adoption at FSE is guided by our core values and our growing understanding of best practices.

Keep the humans in the loop.

Human-generated
You define the task and provide direction.
AI-augmented
The tool helps you draft, brainstorm, or analyze.
Human-validated
You review, refine and ensure accuracy and alignment with our standards and values.

Guidelines for creating prompts.

AI is an assistant, not a replacement
Use it to enhance your work, not replace judgment, context, or expertise.
Be specific
The clearer your prompt or question, the better the response you’ll get.
Check for accuracy
AI can make mistakes (“hallucinations”), so always verify facts and data with at least two independent sources.
Keep it secure
Never enter ASU or sensitive data using a personal AI account. ASU has created a suite of tools that ensure data privacy and security.
Experiment and learn
AI tools are best used iteratively. Practice improves results.
Be a responsible user
Remember that ASU and the Fulton Schools have an open use policy. The user is always responsible for the output of an AI tool.

Acceptable use in your unit

The Fulton Schools of Engineering currently has an open use policy for AI tools and encourages employees to discuss with their supervisors how the tools might be used in the workplace.

  • AI-generated content should be reviewed for accuracy before relying on it for work purposes. If a reliable source cannot be found to verify factual information generated by the tool, that information should not be used for work purposes.
  • Because the CreateAI Platform Toolkit, which includes CHAT, BUILDER and COMPARE, is Secure By Design and built in a secure ASU environment, your AI assistants can use university resources and documents while keeping data safe and compliant. It is approved for use with FERPA-protected and non-regulated PII. It is NOT cleared for HIPPA-protected health data.
