Additional Development Opportunities

Dare to Lead

Dare to Lead™ is the ultimate playbook for developing brave leaders and courageous cultures. Brené Brown designed this program to teach the four skill sets of daring leadership.  They are not only teachable but also measurable and observable. Learning and practice lead to braver work and getting through tough conversations by showing up with our whole hearts.

We have had over 100 graduates from Fulton to date. If you want to take your influence and leadership to the next level, contact Pam Brooks to sign up to take the class this Spring or next Fall.

Here are comments from the graduates of the program:

  • “This course was amazing! The course was engaging and challenging, yet so rewarding! It created a safe space to help us explore our inner feelings.”
  • “This was absolutely incredible! … I loved the small groups and how applicable the content is!”
  • “I felt the content and what was being discussed was so on-target and applicable to life. My group would make interpretations and translate lessons to real-life situations, and the light bulbs and ‘yes, that’s it!’ were impactful. I thought Pamela did a wonderful job creating a safe and comfortable environment for us to show up as we are and be trusting enough to share and open enough to learn.”

LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning has a lot of valuable content designed to help increase your skillset. Below are recommended trainings that you can take to further expand on the Fulton Values. As we continue to exemplify the values in all that we do, it is important to continue the development and learning process, utilizing all of the available tools at our disposal.

Trainings can be found in Career EDGE or by going directly to LinkedIn and clicking Learning in the upper right corner. You must have a LinkedIn profile to directly access the Learning platform from their website.

Understanding Emotions at Work

From Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown

Emotions are greatly affecting our workplace these days, yet nobody is really talking through them or dealing with them. Many may even hope they go away, be positive, right?  This lunch and learn will be ongoing over 14 weeks and cover the great takeaways from Brené Brown’s new book, Atlas of the Heart

“We are not thinking machines that feel; rather, we are feeling machines that think” – Antonio Damasio.

When we learn how to label our emotions better, we will be more able to work through them.  When we do not own our emotions, they will own us and affect our behavior in unproductive ways. Learn the language of emotion and find new ways to help yourself and those around you navigate our ever-changing environment.

Reach out to Pamela Brooks if you are interested in participating.  It will run every other Tuesday starting at the end of January 2023. You do not have to attend all the courses to participate; each week is an independent lesson.  She will send an update on the week’s topic to those on the mailing list.

DISC: Behavior and Emotion Team Workshop

Do you need a recharge for your team? Has your team suffered communication issues in the transition to a new work setting?  Or do you have several new members that would gain from understanding the people they work with?  If you want to connect with everyone and improve communication, reach out to Pamela Brooks, Senior Organizational Development Consultant for Fulton. She will help you set up a team training around understanding behavior and emotion that will create new ways of communicating and appreciating each other’s strengths.

What others had to say about this workshop:

  • “The presentation was… engaging for our diverse team of students and staff and was effective and to the point.  With long-time staff leaving and new folks joining as our work environment has been disrupted and continues to change – Pam’s contributions to building our teams and opening new lines of communication were the right thing at the right time for us.  Better an ounce of prevention than a pound of cure when building a healthy, well-functioning organization with fully engaged employees!”

Additional opportunities to develop outside of the Fulton Schools of Engineering can be found within the Organizational Performance Office and the Organizational Excellence Community of Practice.
